Got Questions? We've Got Answers

Most frequently asked questions and answers

Our most popular program includes (1) 1-hour one-on-one coaching session every other week between the student and the coach and 24/7 access to the coach via a free, private video-to video app. Coaching also includes a customized and confidential drop box that houses over $5,000 worth of positive psychology tools & other resources that we’ve curated and created over the past 5 years. This program is all inclusive and starts at $240 / month. (Prices subject to change)

Because, simply put, making money is NOT our top goal. We want every teenager & young adult to be able to have a mentor and to feel fully supported through every step of their journey. We all deserve someone in our corner no matter where we are in life. The greatest reward for our mentors is in knowing that they had a hand in transforming someone’s life for the better.

Absolutely! We offer up to four sessions per month if both the mentee and the parent feel that amount of support is necessary. This can be assessed during our Enrich & Empower meetings leading up to solidifying your participation in this program.

We understand that true and lasting growth cannot happen overnight. Each recipient starts off with a six-month minimum coaching commitment because we need that length of time to establish a positive and personal relationship with our students, and our students need that time to develop their tool kit. Our goal is to always get our students to independently live a healthy, positive self-fulfilling life using the tools, resources and life-skills we instilled before the end of the program. Average clients stay with their mentor between six months and two years.

Yes – you can cancel at anytime once you enter into a coaching contract. We are fortunate to say that we have NEVER had anyone cancel a contract early once they started working with us, however, we understand that situations change. If a client needs to cancel a contract, they are welcome to do so at anytime with zero penalty. We ask that they cancel via email to billing@positivepresenceglobal.com and finish out the month they are currently in to set the student up for success without their coach.

Because we are not medical practitioners, we do NOT take insurance. However, we are able to take HSA Debit Cards as form of payment. In some situations, we’ve written to an HSA Provider explaining how our program is mental health related and in most cases, transactions are approved.

Our mentor coaches are trained to handle over 500 different scenarios. Our intention is to be a non-bias third party to help with ANY problems that you wish to discuss confidentially including sexual orientation, sex, drugs, goal setting, finding and building positive relationships, emotional intelligence, relationship to self, spirituality, time management and many more!

One of the most common misconceptions about life coaching is that it is therapy in disguise — or, worse yet, therapy from an unlicensed practitioner. In reality, life coaching is truly its own unique service designed to help the recipient achieve success and fulfillment in any and all areas of life.

The idea behind therapy is to focus on past traumas and issues to change self-destructive habits, repair and improve relationships and work through painful feelings. In this sense, therapy focuses on the past and on introspection and analysis, with the hope of resolving past issues and creating a happier, more stable future.

The difference between a life coach and therapist is that a life coach sets clients up with short & long term solutions for positive growth. Through life coaching, a client works with a coach in order to clarify goals and identify obstacles and problematic behaviors and then create action plans to achieve desired results. The process of life coaching takes the client’s current starting point as an acceptable neutral ground and is more action-based from that point onward. A life coach enables the recipient to take control of their life and take action to steer it toward their goals.

The term ‘mentor coach’ was coined and trademarked by our Founder – Michelle Marie King. This form of life coaching is a truly customized experience for the people and families we work with. For some of our mentees, we are a big sister / big brother, a motivator and/or an accountability partner, and for others we are a true coach pushing them out of their comfort zone and mentoring them on topics they need to aid in their personal growth and future success. Our coaches are trained to be a chameleon in the way they coach. This customized support makes this a particularly special experience for the people we work with.

Once you are assigned a mentor, you will get access to your private coaching board, 24/7 access to your mentor and access to over $5,000 worth of Positive Presence curated and created tools and resources.

Our primary age range is 15-28 years old simply because we have found that students within this age range are most open and able to do the type of introspection work we are encouraging, however, we have worked with students as young as 10 years old and as old as 28. We believe that everyone deserves to connect to SELF and as long as you can communicate effectively about yourself to your coach – we are able to support you in that discovery! We also offer parent coaching as a way to provide continued support to the entire family during the student’s experience with Positive Presence.

Our proprietary pre-coaching process allows all parties to learn about Positive Presence, strategize support and assess goals and intentions for a customized coaching experience. These meetings are designed to provide answers and clarity in a non-judgmental, confidential and positive environment. The following two complimentary meetings prior to starting coaching aid all parties in determining if this is a good fit.

The Enrich Meeting: Our corporate sales team schedules a short phone call with the responsible party to answer all of your logistical questions and learn more about Positive Presence.

The Empower Meeting: This 30 minute to one-hour long Zoom meeting is a free coaching assessment between the prospective student and their preferred Positive Presence coach. This meeting allows both the coach and the student to get on the same page as far as the expected coaching experience through Positive Presence.

We use Zoom as our tele-coaching platform.

Parents can be as involved or uninvolved in this process as they’d like to be. Once a family enters into a contract with us, they are provided with the coaches personal contact information. We encourage parents to send text messages with updates, areas of concern or questions to the coach as frequently as they’d like.

It is very common for parents to let this be an experience JUST for their kids and take a hands-off approach with the coach. We establish positive, long-lasting relationships with our students and are constantly in support of them. For most parents, that’s their number one priority.

A $50 one-time, non-refundable admin fee is assessed when you first become a client of Positive Presence. This fee covers the 5-7 hours it takes our admin and coaching team to onboard the student into our program, create their custom access to our tools and resources and set up a client account. 100% of this fee accumulates in a savings account throughout the year and is used to provide our services free of charge to families who cannot otherwise afford these services.

There are no additional costs beyond your monthly retainer unless you use a credit card as your form of payment in which case we assess a 4% convenience fee on those charges. Alternatively, we offer ACH debit as an option to avoid this fee.

We pride ourselves on our discretion. We have an intended three-way confidentiality policy that protects all parties involved in this coaching process. The student’s mentor coach signs an NDA in their training that allows them to act as the intermediary between the student, the parents or responsible party and Positive Presence corporate.

Anything the student divulges is kept confidential between the student and their coach therefore allowing our students to be vulnerable, raw and authentic. The same is true for anything that is shared between the parents and the coach. We want each party to feel safe in their own narrative. The lines of communication are always kept open between corporate Positive Presence Global and each coach and the confidentiality is transferred to Positive Presence Global at any time if the coach needs support with the family and / or student they are working with.

Every student that has completed their mentor coaching program through Positive Presence Global attests to feeling more positive, resilient, self-reliant and confident in themselves then when they started in the program. We have heard from former students that this program helped them find their purpose, becom more goal oriented, practice better time management skills, and feel confident in making fulfilling, positive decisions for themselves.

We’ve seen how the types of relationships and conversations our coaches facilitate allows our students to feel safe to explore, comfortable to share and open to dive deep into some of the hardest aspects of personal development.

So to us, we have 100% success rate. Our students are forever positively impacted by their journey through Positive Presence Global and each experience is uniquely rewarding.

We offer references, written and / or video testimonials from both parents and students on our website at danm66.sg-host.com, on google or via Facebook. Additional letters of recommendation and references are available upon request to info@positivepresenceglobal.com.

Each mentor coaching session usually lasts a minimum of one-hour, but sometimes goes over at the discretion of the mentor if needed.

Once our coaches are approved to begin training, they start our three-phase Positive Presence Mentor Certification Program – a proprietary 60-day intensive training.

Phase One is a one-on-one, hands-on experience in which our coaches get an in-depth understanding of our S.E.L.F. Philosophy, our coaching P.I.L.L.A.R.S., our proprietary ‘Perspective Coaching Process’ & a clear understanding of how to support their mentees the Positive Presence way.

In Phase Two, each of our coaches are provided a non paying scholarship recipient from our Foundation to gain valuable field experience. Over the next 30 days (phase 2 of their certification) they are required to put in a minimum of 5 hours of online training watching client approved session recordings. Additionally, they must be present to (5) 1-hour coaching sessions conducted by current coaches for additional field training.

Phase 3 of our certification process requires getting 100% on our certification exam. This sometimes 2-3 hour exam includes 50 what-if scenarios presented to each coach by a corporate trainer. Each scenario has been extracted from coaching situations we’ve experienced within Positive Presence since inception. The intention of this exam is to ensure that our coaches can maintain integrity with our core-coaching principles, utilize our ‘Prospective Coaching Process’ and think on their feet to positively and proactively support each student in various scenarios.

As you can imagine, this is NOT an easy process for our coaches or our corporate training team, but we understand the importance of the lives we impact and we take every precaution necessary to make sure our coaches are ready to inspire and support their mentees. The coaches that make it past these three phases become Positive Presence certified mentor coaches and begin coaching company wide. Our coaches are exemplary! They are passionately motivated to change the lives of the people they coach and they are dedicated to that mission through and through.

We understand that true and lasting growth cannot happen overnight. Each recipient starts off with a six-month minimum coaching commitment because we need that length of time to establish a positive and personal relationship with our students and our students need that time to develop their tool kit.  Our goal is to always get our students to independently live a healthy, positive self-fulfilling life using the tools, resources and life-skills we instilled before the end of the program. Average clients stay with their mentor between six months and two years.

Our primary age range is 15-28 years old simply because we have found that students within this age range are most open and able to do the type of introspection work we are encouraging, however, we have worked with students as young as 10 years old and as old as 52. We believe that everyone deserves to connect to SELF and as long as you can communicate effectively about yourself to your coach – we are able to support you in that discovery!
All of our coaching is done Face-to-Face via Zoom. This is to protect our coaches, students and families at this time. In the best of times, we believe this ‘tele-coaching experience’ allows our students to gain a broader perspective of life and support from mentors across the country.

At Positive Presence we believe that each individual deserves a mentor coaching program that is as unique as they are! In that sense, there isn’t just ONE Positive Presence mentoring program, there is a different, personalized version for every individual we work with while still maintaining our core coaching P.I.L.L.A.R.S as outlined below.

  • P)rotect: We provide a shield of validation and reinforce authenticity, self-esteem and positive self-talk.
  • (I)nspire: Our mentors inspire their students with their own anecdotes of success, failure, relationships & more.
  • (L)isten: We follow a client-led approach and always listen and empathize FIRST.
  • (L)ift: During hard times, our mentors offer emotional support needed to encourage a more positive mindset.
  • (A)bide: Our mentors provide a fully attentive, non-judgmental, unwavering source of support and abide by that code AT ALL TIMES.
  • (R)ally: Our entire Positive Presence team from our Founder to our admins uplift and empower our students through the good and the bad times, instilling strength and resilience while celebrating victories.

Angela Kim

Angela is a Speaker, Master NLP Practitioner and Life Coach from Orange County, California. When Angela was 7 years old, she suffered a traumatic brain injury due to a fall. She underwent an 8 hour brain surgery followed by a 2 week coma. When she woke up, she lost her ability to speak and was completely paralyzed on the right side of her body. Angela had to go through thousands of hours of rehab to learn how to talk, walk, and find ways to live with just one arm. Doctors had told her that her life looks dim and that she will not be able to go to college, drive, nor live independently for the rest of her life. She felt despair, hopelessness, and shame from such a young age. She struggled with anxiety, depression, and ADHD ever since she can remember. However, her physical disability and mental health challenges did not stop her. With an incredible amount of resilience and grit, she decided to go after her dreams and graduated from U.C.L.A. with a degree in Psychology, learned how to drive and cook with just her left arm. Angela went to grad school for Speech Pathology but soon realized that her life had a different calling. Angela went on a deep personal development journey and found her passion and purpose in coaching to help others overcome their challenges. She finds life’s truest joys and fulfillment in working with teens and young adults helping them to discover their unique strengths and inner power by taking them on a self-reflective and transformative journey and helping guide them to a life of confidence, fulfillment, and purpose.

Thomas Knowles

The youngest of three children, Thomas was involved in everything under the sun from travel basketball and baseball to track and field. After years of high-intense sports and summer months with a math and reading tutor, Thomas realized he had lost his sense of self. After starting at the University of Kansas and joining a fraternity, he got caught up in college life. Thomas started to develop and show signs of anxiety, depression, OCD, ADD, and insomnia. As his grades began to decline, self-isolation, drugs and alcohol became a coping mechanism. Recognizing the peril of his decisions, he made a decision to shift his life in a more positive direction. Sophomore year Thomas sought a new major in Unified Early Childhood Education and began to celebrate 6 straight semesters on honor roll, graduated with a 3.5 GPA, met the love of his life, and landed a job teaching first grade. Focusing on his sobriety and future with his fiancé, Thomas is continuing to work on himself every day as a happier, stronger version of who he once was.

Tonica has had to face her fair share of adversity within her family, from alcoholism to divorce, and credits her positive mindset to practicing gratitude and the support of others in her life. Her own journey to self-love and self-worth has been full of ups and downs, but she truly believes that everyone is able to have a successful, positive, fulfilling life, and is passionate about helping others discover that for themselves. Tonica is always ready to listen without judgment and provides a safe, supportive space for healing and growth. She prides herself on meeting her students where they’re at and sets intention to be present in every moment. Her passion for being a mentor coach with Positive Presence is deeply seeded by the lack of judgement-free support and guidance she had when she was younger. Katlyn believes teenagers and young adults are an untapped population of individuals who are needing more resources and support than currently available to them. Getting outside in nature, exercising and nutrition are some of the most important things day to day for this adventurous mentor. Being able to pause, relax and enjoy moments while challenging himself and never becoming complacent is something he prides himself on. Jack has always noticed a spark when he is helping people reach their goals. There has always been a passion inside him to influence and inspire those younger than him to make mindful choices.

Then, you tap into your 5 senses, to quickly and effortlessly shift your current focus. Choose a sense- any sense, and count down from 5 (order or senses can be altered): 5 things you see, 4 things you smell, 3 things you feel, 2 things you hear, 1 thing you taste.
